About the Nursery

Texas Native Plant Nursery. Top products: Texas Madrone trees, Xeriscape plants, Native understory trees, Sun-tolerant native perennials. Natives of Texas Nursery is a specialized horticultural operation located in Kerrville, Texas, situated on the Spring Canyon Ranch. The nursery focuses on the cultivation and sale of Texas native plants, with a specific emphasis on the Texas Madrone tree. Established as a long-term professional endeavor by founder Betty Streetman Winningham, the nursery serves both wholesale and retail customers looking for hardy, water-efficient vegetation suitable for the Hill Country climate. Their business model promotes the 'Save our Water' philosophy, encouraging the use of native species over high-maintenance alternatives. The facility features a public demonstration garden where visitors can observe the plants in a natural setting before purchasing from the nursery stock. Their inventory is categorized by environmental needs, including selections for full sun, shade, and part-shade, as well as various understory trees. The nursery remains a destination for homeowners and landscapers seeking to incorporate climate-resilient, ecologically appropriate flora into their gardening projects.

Small family nursery that's really out of the way, owner said he's in the right spot it's the other nursery that are in the wrong place. They carry native plants (that are perfectly suited for the area because they are NATIVE) that a lot of local nurseries don't carry. Cared for plants that are healthy and at a good price point. Treat yourself to a locally owned business and not a big box, it's worth it. Would be five stars but you do have to put in the effort to get there.

David and Pablo were wonderful. The 3 silktassels I purchased have been doing well after planting last month and even have new growth already! I look forward to returning again in the near future

What a cool spot. Picked up a few canyon mock oranges and other rare natives that I couldn't find around Austin (even at the lbj wildflower sale). This spots worth the drive
